Racket

How to select a racket?

Yonex Nano Speed 100 Bue
Brand
The big name in badminton world is off course Yonex brand, besides the competitor like Apacs, Fleet, Carlton and Li-Ning brand is getting more popular now.

Usually when people ask me about racket selection, which racket is best? As a general guideline, I will answer it depends on whether you are playing Single or Doubles, skill level and budget.

Weight
If you are playing Single, better choose a heavier one, because it allow you to return to the baseline easily, but if you are playing for Doubles, it is advisable to choose a lighter racket. Lighter weight one offer by Fleet and Finnex.

Durability & Quality
Yonex is still the best, Yonex itself have few version, there are Made in Japan and Made in Taiwan, check the word printer at the lower surface of the racket handle. The one Made in Japan has the consistent and good quality while the one Made in Taiwan is inferior, some said the one form Taiwan is fake products.

Price
Yonex still averagely a more expensive one, ranging from MYR60 to MY1,xxx. But for beginner, racket below MYR150 and above MYR60 is good enough. For a cheaper and lighter version, you can look for Fleet, Finnex and Hart, the one I'm using is Hart PowerShoot Offensive, which I bought at only MYR37 offer price in year 2010.

  1. I am using Victor Brave Sword 9. All-rounder racket for the brave players, but to succeed with this model, one has to be 'braver' than the racket.
